Digital Sewing Scoop // March

This may be my last issue of the Digital Sewing Scoop for a little while as little bub is imminently due. So I will be taking it easy for a few months with regards to updating the blog. It also means that I have been working very hard to get our latest pattern ready for release before the little one’s arrival. And I am pleased to say that the Heidi Day Dress is finally available! It is available as a free download for all subscribers when you join our newsletter.

Digital Sewing Scoop March 2019

Inspiring Community

An article about the calming therapeutic effects that sewing offers which has used throughout history as a way to escape the hardships of everyday life.

Crafty Cool

Did you ever think about how your handy dandy sewing pins are made?

Sewing Skill Builder

Many of us are teaching ourselves to sew and thanks to the wide array of online material, it has never been easier.

There are many things to consider when buying fabric- just one of which are issues around sustainability. On our Fabric Fix series this month, we discuss viscose (also known as rayon) and the various issues surrounding sustainability to consider when buying this fabric.

Body Love

There has been much talk within the sewing community recently about diversity, and especially about the range of sizes that many pattern companies offer. Helen from Helen’s Closet recently conducted a survey and asked various questions around curvy sewing. She generously shared the results which I found so interesting.

Watch it

I might be a little late to this but I recently discovered a BBC series available on You-Tube called A Stitch in Time. Each episode recreates an historically accurate garment and dives into its origins.

What I’m reading

I have just finished The House of Fiction. A true story written by a daughter of a man who abandons his family to pursue life with another woman.
